In development Downer EDi Rail · Gen I
Australia’s heavy-haul AC locomotive platform, represented across the operators and liveries that defined the first generation.
TCS The prototype
Manufactured by Downer EDi Rail at Cardiff between 2007 and 2014, the GT46C-ACe Gen I became one of Australia’s leading locomotives for intermodal, coal, grain and other heavy commodity work.
SCT Logistics introduced the platform in 2007. LDP hire locomotives and Pacific National TT Class units followed, before GWA and Southern Shorthaul Railroad added their own fleets. The two SSR units built in 2014 were the final Australian-built examples of the generation.
TCS Project scope
The complete project gallery spans the operators, liveries and working lives represented by the first-generation Australian GT46C-ACe renders.
