TRANS CONTINENTAL
In development Commonwealth Railways
A Commonwealth Railways covered van project representing a practical piece of interstate freight rollingstock.
TCS The prototype
Carmor Engineering built the 50 covered box vans in 1976 as VFX 2788–2837. The vehicles later carried the ABFX classification as the Australian freight coding system evolved.
Their enclosed bodies protected general freight in transit and made the class part of the broad family of vans that supported long-distance rail operations.
TCS Development
The ABFX is currently in development. This layout leaves room for confirmed variations, loads, scripting and release information as the project progresses.
Modelling the long enclosed van body and distinctive underframe.
Markings, materials and operational weathering establish its working character.
Bogies, physics, sounds and testing prepare it for consists.
